for the last few weeks we have been making an AR sandbox which teaches people about Topography and a topographical view. it is a hands-on sandbox exhibit combined with 3D visualization applications created by researchers at UC Davis.
Simply mold the sand by hand and the landscape comes to life! The sand is augmented in real-time with an elevation color map, topographic contour lines, and simulated water. i wasn't here for the construction week so i have no information about how the building went. But what i do know is that the AR sandbox is a very interesting thing. you can use your hand to make a virtual rain cloud which will affect the climate of your virtual world. i really had fun in this and it helped me to design things!
